A map showing wildfire burn severity along a river. The map is divided into two parts: left side shows satellite imagery with burn severity color overlay in green, yellow, tan, and red indicating unburned to severe burn; right side shows burn severity with a pixelated color overlay matching the severity levels. Blue lines indicate beaver pond buffers, black circles represent beaver sites, and orange triangles mark control sites, all along the river.

Will assisted me with a full week of back-country fieldwork as a critical team member for bear protection in central Alaska.  He was professional, well-trained, and always reliable by being on time and prepared for the job...”

-Dr. Richard Fischer, Kingfischer Consulting

Field support

o   Highly trained bear-guards

  • All bear guards received high-quality training on bear behavior, firearms safety, and critical field skills for operating in remote Alaska.

  • Bear guards are equipped with a variety of lethal and non-lethal tools to manage bear encounters appropriately and minimize harm to the bears when possible.

o Comprehensive camp protection services

  • Including permanent guards, along with electric fence installation, testing, and maintenance.

o   Risk management and safety consultations

  • We always emphasize preventative measures that reduce the human-bear conflicts, and are available to consult on camp design and field operations to reduce the risk of bear encounters/attacks.

Bear Guarding

o   Bear Awareness (3-4 hours)

o   Bear Defense (shotgun, pistol, or rifle training; 2 days)

o   Bear Defense Refresher (1 day)

“…having worked in the Arctic for 30 years, I can confidently say this was the best preparation I've received for our types of remote fieldwork. There was a near-perfect mix of generalized instruction, attention to our specific needs, and hands-on practice with equipmentWhat made the training exceptional was Will's ability to build from his own Alaskan experience and a strong foundation of published research and statistics and then customized that to our specific needs.”
